Crysis developer Crytek used Microsoft's E3 2011 press conference to formally unveil Ryse, the Xbox 360 exclusive previously known as Codename: Kingdoms.

A Kinect-controlled first-melee game set in the world of Ancient Rome, Ryse will see players using Kinect gestures to block attacks with their shield, swing their swing, kick foes, deliver headbutts, and throw blades at foreheads.

Here's the stabby trailer for your viewing pleasure:

Wow. This is a Microsoft-paid exclusive; we've known about it for ages.

I'm a PC gamer--I'm still waiting for the DX11 patch before I play Crysis 2. But if I were a developer, I would feel giddy at the thought of not making games for the likes of all the haters here.

WTF are you talking about? Crytek made two successful PC games. They are now in debt to the PC community for the rest of eternity. They are not allowed to develop for other platforms or..."fuck them." clearly no PC gamers feel entitlement at all

What's the point of waiting for the DX11 patch? The game looks spectacular as is.

It doesn't look as good as I want it to. It's barely better (and in many ways worse) than Crysis four years ago. I expected more and DX11 will probably make a huge difference, so why not wait?

It won't, low texture detail is low texture detail :/ I swear they used the 360 textures on the PC.
I thought developers kept the damn source files :/

Agreed....if it's super responsive it might actually be worth it to pick up a Kinect once I get the damn room for it. And it drops in price.

So it's a Cryengine powered Zeno Clash set in Roman times? Sounds pretty good to me, as long as you don't mind prancing about your living room like a dill.

Was anyone else cackling during this trailer? The voiceover was SO hilariously bad.

"A HERO WILL RISE. A PLATITUDE WILL BE SPOKEN. A TRUISM WILL BE REGURGITATED. IN A WORLD WHERE YOU CAN'T PLAY GAMES WITH REAL CONTROLLERS ANYMORE, IT'S TIME TO MOVE TO ROME."

Crytek really needs to pull a Valve and hire someone who can string a sentence together.
