StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm 'gameplay' trailer
Blizzard Entertainment has released a short trailer featuring in-game footage and cinematic clips for the upcoming continuation of the StarCraft series -- StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm.
Soon after our StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm preview went live this morning, Blizzard Entertainment sent over a trailer featuring a medley of in-game footage and clips from the game's cinematics.
Like our preview, the footage focuses on the single-player campaign of StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, which stars the Queen of Blades (A.K.A. Kerrigan) as the game's primary "hero."
StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm does not have a release date; however, Blizzard promised the game will arrive by at least 2012. Is it, after all, one of a handful of project's on the developer's plate at the moment.

This is a question from someone who doesnt play much if any SC2.
What, if anything, can they add other than a SP campaign to make this feel fresh to people who are very familiar and burned out on the MP game? Pretty much everyone knows how to build and min/max with the Zerg already as they've been using them for quite a long time already.
Are they going to be adding new units to make it feel fresh to people?-

new units, new maps, launching the battle net store for map authors to sell their stuff (which should produce some high quality stuff).

This is pretty much false. the meta game for SC2 changes with each patch and as new builds emerge. this is why the game stays popular for so long.

Am I the only one who is cool with them charging full (~$60) price for the new single player campaign (new units, mechanics, story) and a handful of changes for multiplayer? I don't find it necessary for them to pump a new engine out or something else ridiculous to justify full game price.
Maybe the developer community has just brainwashed me : /-
Honestly I have no enthusiasm for the single player at all, so any money I have to pay to gain access for that seems like a waste to me. I feel like this is actually an example of where the DLC model is superior to the expansion model. I don't want to pay for the single player campaign. You do. Why not let me buy the cheaper DLC that just has the MP units, instead of forcing me to buy a campaign i have no interest in.

i'm not cool with them charging the same again, simply because with the engine done they are not putting anywhere near as much development hours into this. i see where you're coming from and i'd probably still grit my teeth and pay full price if it was $60 (or probably $80 australian, bleh) but i'd still feel ripped off.

Here's the list. The one I remember the most that had a unique gameplay style was the Diamondback. It felt a little like a Phoenix on the ground. I'm sure it will depend a lot on what they come up with for units for the other races though. i.e. If we get some some weak swarmy unit for Zerg, maybe the Firebat will make more sense than it does now. The one that is the easiest to imagine fitting in right away would be the Goliath, but I get your point that Thors and tanks kind of cover their specialty already.

Because Blizzard initially said they would be 3 full priced packages - with the content of 3 games spread over the course of it.
If Blizzard maintains that 60$ full pricepoint on HOTS, despite being 9 levels shorter, people may be pissed.
I don't really care, if they just make the gameplay better in single player, SC2 had some flaws.-
I don't believe they ever said anything like that.

The only confusing aspect was their confusing phrasing when they said it was "split" rather than just saying that each campaign focuses on a single race. -
