Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype delayed
Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype has been delayed for unnamed reasons, but Capcom claims the project is still being developed as planned.
Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version, the sample for the ongoing MML3 Project, has been delayed. Word was given in a Capcom-Unity blog post from producer Tetsuya Kitabayashi.
"The release of 'Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version', which had been planned to coincide with the launch of the Nintendo eShop at the end of May [in Japan], has been delayed," he said. "It's always been our aim in the production of this game to create something that would provide a fun time for all, and from here on out, we will be maintaining this aim with a renewed desire to create a product of the highest quality. Please just wait a little longer!"
He offers his apologies for the delay, and a follow-up from Web planner Kinako promises development on the game is still proceeding as planned. The Nintendo eShop is scheduled to launch, sans Mega Man, on June 6.
In semi-related disappointing news for series fans, the original Mega Man Legends won't be coming to the PSOne Classics. An Ask Capcom segment (via Joystiq) revealed that the game can't be released again due to intellectual property and voice acting licensing issues. Only the first game is explicitly mentioned, but it may impact Legends 2 and the criminally under-appreciated Misadventures of Tron Bonne as well.
