The Darkness 2 paints the town red on Oct. 4

The Darkness 2 has been given a release date, according to publisher 2K Games. The sequel to the 2007 title based on the Top Cow Productions comic series is coming to North America on October 4.

The Darkness 2 will arrive just in time to terrorize gamers before Halloween, 2K Games announced today. The upcoming first-person shooter based on the comic series of the same name from Top Cow Productions will launch for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 on October 4 in North America. The game will arrive on October 7, internationally.

The Darkness 2 is currently in development at Digital Extremes, which recently developed the PC version of THQ's Homefront.

Though the sequel is being helmed by a different developer than the original title--which shipped in 2007 from developer Starbreeze Studios--our GDC 2011 preview of the game was positive.       I really want this game to be good. I hope it's good. Dark Sector was not. :(

      Well that spoiled the first game for me which I'm just now playing through. Not a huge deal since I don't really care about the story very much.

        that won't spoil the game for you. a plot point may have been spoiled but i think you'll continue to enjoy it.
