Mechs & Possibly Mechanical Pets Are Teased In No Man's Sky Next Expansion Trailer
We don't know what these are for or if they're driveable, but they look exciting.
Update: Game dev Amy Dentata pointed out that the robot-dogs have always been around if you raise alerts to a certain point. It does look like the mechs are an evolution of the overseers.
Original Story: The trailer for No Man's Sky's upcoming Next expansion went live today and showed off a significantly improved multiplayer experience and a new third-person perspective. There are some scattered teases that show off other things Hello Games has in store for their space sandbox game, but one particular thing stood out in a big way: Bipedal mechs.
In the trailer above we see giant robots that could be driveable. This adds to some vehicles that have already been added to the game in previous free updates, but it's not apparent if these are mainly for gathering resources or if there are new threats that will require the use of these bipedal mechs.
During the scene where the player runs behind the mechs, there also seems to be a mech-like dog running along with them. It's possible that these are all part of a new non-playable race of beings in the game, as the overseers in No Man's Sky are mechanical in makeup as well. Please let us know in Chatty if these elements have already been introduced to the game and we'll make a correction. Stay tuned to Shacknews for more updates.
