Madden 19 Welcomes Most Players to the 99 Club Since 2007
Two quarterbacks, two linebackers, one defensive tackle, one tight end, and one wide receiver enter the 99 Club.
While a very skewed view of the league and its players, fans clamor for the ratings in Madden every year. It gives us all a glimpse at who's considered the most dominant overall and Madden NFL 19 features seven such players. The seven players are Luke Keuchly, Aaron Donald, Antonio Brown, Rob Gronkowski, Von Miller, Aaron Rodgers, and Tom Brady. That's two quarterbacks, two linebackers, one defensive tackle, one tight end, and one wide receiver.
Polygon reports that Madden NFL 19 is the first in the series to feature seven 99-rated players since Madden NFL 07. The reporter also dropped a full list that shows the amount of highest ranked players over the last 20 years as well. An interesting fact? Madden 2001 featured zero 99-rated players.
Luke Keuchly, the middle linebacker for the Carolina Panthers, received his award on the field and a beat reporter for the team added the context that Luke actually thought he was getting pranked before opening the box.

There are many different analysts with lists of the top players for the previous NFL season, but, if we use Pro Football Focus as the official metric, there are a couple of players snubbed: Edge defender Khalil Mack, wide receiver Julio Jones, and defensive lineman J.J. Watt. These three players are in the top 10 along with the seven 99-rated players, some above quite a few others.
Madden NFL 19 launches on August 10, 2018, for PS4 and Xbox One. The franchise is also making its valiant return to PC on the same day. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional updates.

I found out that one of the Switch streamers that comes up in my feed hates Madden. Not that he's never liked it, but rather that he used to love it and despises what EA has apparently done to it over the years. I'm not sure how far this goes back, but he is looking forward to the upcoming console edition of Mutant League Football.
