Think you want to finally play a Yakuza game (you do), let me help acquaint you?
Yakuza games are small-scale open world adventures where you are constantly distracted from a genuinely impressive Japanese crime-drama story by adorably petty bullshit and surprisingly deep business simulators. They're wonderful. One minute you're watching someone struggle with the idea of committing their first murder for the family, the next you're helping someone track down their lost pants.
If you ever played Shenmue, think that but amazing.
0 is a PERFECT place to start. https://store.steampowered.com/app/638970/Yakuza_0/-

So far (chapter 7) I like the story in 4 better, but only barely. The gameplay is about even, but the side stuff in 0 is more fun. Hard to go wrong with either, but since 0 is what's there, assuming it's a good port (and Sega is usually good about that), it's a confident purchase for the curious. If you have any love of good crime drama or open world activity simulators, it's a lock.
