'Full Multiplayer Experience' Coming To No Man's Sky This July
The space sandbox is finally becoming the best version of itself.
For No Man's Sky, the free Atlas Rises update finally introduced multiplayer gameplay, allowing up to 16 people to explore the universe together in synchronous co-op. It wasn't the fully formed multiplayer people hoped for, but a state. Now, with the Next update coming July 24, 2018, a robust multiplayer experience is being added to No Man's Sky.

A free update for PS4, PC, and launch on Xbox. Explore together, meet random travellers, build shared bases, dog fight, race vehicles. We’re so happy this is finally happening pic.twitter.com/m4iOujJFVY
"No Man's Sky can, kind of, be a bit mysterious [and] a bit weird at times. Also sometimes a little bit lonely," Murray says during an Inside Xbox interview. "This is very different. It's more Battlestar. It's Star Trek: Away Team. It's fun. It's funny and emergent and kind of intense."
Murray goes on to give a loose breakdown of what players can expect in the Next update coming this summer. You'll be able to gather with friends or just come across random strangers. You can team up or you can attack other people as well. The small communities or massive colonies spread across multiple planets that are built with a team will be online and can be visited by others.
The experience translates to space as well where dogfighting takes place. You can even create a pirate crew and attack freighters together. Racetracks built planetside were also mentioned during the interview.
No Man's Sky is available now on PC and PS4. The Xbox One version will launch with the Next update on July 24, 2018, and all of the game's updates are free.

Even without true MP support, players have engaged with NMS in the same manner as Eve, with player-run governments, "war"s, etc.

A true MP support that would include trading, PvP, etc. would make it much more Eve-like
