Monster Hunter Movie Starring Milla Jovovich Starts Production this September

Milla has made it her business to take on another gaming film franchise.

It looks like actress Milla Jovovich is adding another video game-related film series to her resume with the upcoming Monster Hunter movie, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. Yes, the same director who made those pretty awful Resident Evil flicks is working on the movie, which Milla will be bringing her unique charm to. The fact that the same actress is working with the same director that made an underwhelming film series isn't exactly comforting when it comes to hoping for a decent product, but we could all be surprised!

The film will be shot around South Africa's Cape Town, with a budget of around $60 million from Constantin Film, and it's meant to be the first of many, much like Anderson did with Resident Evil. Martin Moszkowicz, Executive Board member at Constantin, said at Cannes Film Festival, “Paul has proven over and over he does stylish movies. It’s one of his big strong points. He can make a movie look good, and is very much into visuals.”

We were privy to some test footage of the film that came out last year, and those sure do look like monsters, but I have this really bad feeling that Anderson is going to make Jovovich anything but the hunter we're supposed to be seeing star in one of these things. It's too early to judge when we know this little about the project though, I suppose, so we'll have to wait and see what ends up happening with the first installment.

I've never watched the Resident Evil films but Capcom must have been okay with them if they are letting the same people work on another of its properties. I'm not sure if you are aware but that director and actress are married which is probably why they are together on this. I just checked out his resume to find he also directed the first Mortal Kombat film and was a producer on the Dead or Alive movie; he seems to work a lot of mediocre to bad films.

Pretty much. Out of the 7 or so Resident Evil films a few of them were good. I just don't know what they'll do to make a movie out of monster Hunter. That's like 2 fights and a gathering mission at best.
