Try Out Keen Games' Free Portal Knights Demo on Nintendo Switch Now

Jump from portal to portal in this unique sandbox RPG experience!

Publisher 505 Games and developer Keen Games have joined together for a collaboration that looks like a unique take on the sandbox action-RPG, and you can try it now! Portal Knights is a dungeon crawler with an interesting twist: You're able to travel from gateway to gateway to different worlds, which lets you get a taste for what others sandbox areas feel like. Think Rick and Morty, if Rick's portal gun weren't totally random and dangerous. It's a little like that.

Starting today, you can download a new demo via the Nintendo Switch eShop, which will allow you to try out the upcoming "Adventurer Update," which brings a swath of new characters, items, quests, and additional improvements to the game. Portal Knights is out if you're looking to pick up the entire game, and it'll run you $29.99 for the full thing if you decide the demo is totally for you.

Whether you're playing as as Warrior, Mage, or Ranger, you can explore a wealth of different places while leveling up, gathering resources, casting spells, and crafting tons of different items to help you along the way. You can fly solo or invite up to three friends for a four-player cooperative game where everyone works together (via wireless connection) to eliminate monsters, mine, and take part in plenty of other activities.

Let us know if you pick up the Portal Knights demo and how it's treating you, and if you think you might want to play through the full version at some point. Here's a warning for you: It's pretty addictive.

Would this game be too hard for a 5yr old? I know nothing about it.

Yes, even I had trouble with it haha, but then again my kids figure things out that I can't

This sounds pretty awesome. I wonder how long until every world you teleport to is nothing but dick castles for as far as the eye can see.

I just fired it up and played a few minutes, is there any way to run faster at some point? I don't know if I can play this, feels like you're walking in slow motion everywhere.

This looks better than DQB but I don't know if I can get used to the controls.

Bummer. I am almost done with DQB and it would be nice to have another switch game to scratch that particular itch on those nights I work late and need help winding down for the day.

Yea, I'd pass. I bought it when I was looking for stuff to play on the switch and honestly I'd rather just play Minecraft survival

You can hold the dodge button to roll around, it is faster. Also Ranger's have a double jump pants that speeds traversal up a lot!

Ok I'll try the roll trick. I started a ranger so I'll try to get those pants, how long does it take?

They have some at different levels if I remember correctly, you can get them after a few times leveling up, should be fast.
