It's been a long time since Sam Fisher has been seen in any kind of action. But it looks like the action starting to heat up in the Wildlands may just bring the Splinter Cell special agent out of hiding.

On Friday, Ubisoft teased a special event for Ghost Recon Wildlands, one that will pair players up with the legendary Sam Fisher. Fisher has been out of action since 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist, but not only is the character returning, but so is long-time voice actor Michael Ironside, who was left off Blacklist.

There are no details on Sam Fisher's return just yet, so file this under "announcement of an announcement," as Ubisoft is set to reveal more information on Monday, April 9. Speculation includes the "big theme" that Ghost Recon hinted at during its Year 2 reveal.

Come back on Monday for more, as Shacknews keeps an eye on this unfolding story.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
