Baseball and Soccer Face Off in the Latest Splatoon 2 Splatfest
The most popular sport in the world does battle with baseball in the upcoming Splatoon 2 Splatfest.
Fans of Nintendo's own ink-slinging splash-happy shooter Splatoon 2 have a brand new PvP event to look forward to, as the development team at Big N is gearing up to kick off the game's latest Splatfest, this time pitting the likes of the United States' national pastime against the most popular sport across the globe.

That's right, it's baseball vs. soccer in this week's upcoming Splatfest. Players will be able to take to the game in a Turf War, with the winning side being determined by how many players can splat their way to victory across the event's 24-hour duration. Of course, players will want to choose their sides carefully, as there will be no changing direction once the choice between baseball and soccer has been made.
This isn't the first Splatfest that Nintendo has hosted; far from it. Players diving into the official Splatoon website will note that Splatoon 2 has played host to nine separate Splatfest events, with players choosing sides in high-stakes battles between the likes of money vs. love, sci-fi vs. fantasy, flight vs. invisibility, and even ketchup vs. mayonnaise. Results are tallied between overall popularity, solo wins, and team wins, with overall victories gaged by the which side earns the most wins for each individual category.
Players who want to make their choice known to the world should prepare for battle, as the baseball vs. soccer Splatfest is set to kick off this Friday, April 6.

I think I combine cricket and baseball for this particular statistics game in my head, but either way it's a very Japanese look at sports that likely splits the fan base way too hard one way (soccer) over the other (baseball). Of course, this is far from the first time Nintendo has done this in a splat fest. I think they do it on purpose.
