SIEA's Vice President of Marketing Mary Yee has revealed some exciting news for anyone interested in virtual reality. Start next week, a collection of PlayStation VR deals will be going live including a price drop for the standalone VR HMD to $199.99. The deal is a rehash of Sony's holiday promotion and some bundles from that deal will be getting the discount treatment this time around as well.

Starting on February 18 and lasting through March 3, here are the deals you'll be able to snatch up in order to experience some immersive gaming and the links to the various retailers that will carry them:

PSVR Gran Turismo Sport Bundle - $199 ($100 Off)

PlayStation VR DOOM VFR Bundle - $299 ($100 Off)

PlayStation VR Skyrim VR Bundle - $349 ($100 Off)

In addition to saving quite a few bucks, this is a good time to snatch up the VR headset before some significant releases. Upcoming adventure Moss will be getting a release date sometime this month and Bravo Team will be arriving in the near future along with more than 130 VR titles that will release before the year ends.

Skyrim bundle is $350 Doom bundle is $300. I'm sad because I just bought Skyrim bundle for $399. I guess Amazon doesn't honor price change refunds anymore?

even at launch price, i think i've gotten a better dollar:playtime ratio out of Skyrim VR than anything else in the last few years other than Yakuza 0

Skyrim and Doom bundles are all v2. If you want to check, the headset should have little holes on the side for earphones to push into. That identifies v2.

It's good, but the I don't find it as immersive as something like job simulator. For some reason for me a lot of the scenery in the background looks 2d as if it's a fake backdrop. Not sure if it's just me.

Have you noticed anything like this? Also is it really grainy in dark scenes for you?

Don't know about grainy stuff aside from stuff typical of the low resolution, but when I first stepped out into the world and looked at the distant mountain range, it did have a bit of a 2d backdrop vibe to it (maybe because of the LOD distance?). It doesn't stick out at all now, but my main visual complaint about the game is how the HUD doesn't intelligently handle being in the game world. Like, it's cool that it's hovering there in front of you, but it sucks when an NPC knocks you through it or too far away to be able to read it, not to mention bringing it up and not being able to read anything because it clips through the world geometry. I thought they were supposed to fix that in the first patch, but I've never noticed any improvement.
