ARK Park Delivers Jurassic VR Terror This March
Take a tour of ARK Park before the dinos get testy in virtual reality.
ARK: Survival Evolved is one of the rare survival titles that survived a lengthy Early Access period and not only retained a lot of their players, but grew in popularity. The developers expanded to consoles and extended the world of ARK's reach and the team is gearing up to further expand to VR. ARK Park is the virtual reality experience coming to Oculus Rift and HTC Vive and it now has a release date: March 22.
If you want to engage in the deep survival experience, you'll have to stick to the flagship, non-VR game. ARK Park is a unique experience shaped to take advantage of virtual reality's immersion by thrusting players into a series of theme park adventures. This sounds familiar...but moving on. Here are some of ARK Park's gameplay features in detail:
- Explore the Expansive Scenery of ARK Park: Visit over 10 unique scenes alone or with a group of friends.
- Collect Dinosaur DNA, Gather Materials, and Craft Items: Collect DNA and materials from the dinosaurs you encounter on your excursions, trade them for Engrams at your base camp, then use those Engrams to craft helpful items.
- Raise Your Very Own Dinosaurs: During your excursions throughout the park, you may be lucky enough to collect a rare dino egg. Take good care of it until it hatches, and you’ll be able to raise your own dinosaurs from hatchlings to adulthood. Some dinos may even grow to be large enough to ride!
- Defend Vital Technology: Dinosaurs aren’t the most docile creatures - band together with other ARK Park visitors to defend important research outposts and valuable technology from rampaging dinos!
PCInvasion broke the news and explained that, in ARK Park's story mode, something goes wrong in the park. The fiction influences are and have been pretty explicit and it's good to see something like the ARK world fulfilling any Jurassic fantasies people may have. Look out for T-Rex on the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PSVR on March 22.

Just to add a few things. The developers of Ark Park is not the same as ark: survival evolved. Ark Park devs are licensing the IP for this (I suspect the license is cheaper than jurassic park/world would have been). As well, PSVR is also releasing on the same day. This isn't a pc vr exclusive title (I believe it was originally teased as a psvr exclusive).
