Red Dead Redemption 2 Rumored To Have Battle Royale Mode

Were you hankering for a western PUBG? Well, you may be in luck.

It was not too long ago that PUBG Corp was calling out Epic Games for their shameless flip of the popular shooter with their free-to-play Battle Royale mode. If these new rumors turn out to be true, PUBG may be staring down an even bigger giant with Rockstar possibly adding a similar mode to the upcoming Red Dead Redemption

TrustedReviews dropped an exclusive suggesting that sources had provided them with documents back in August 2017 that they decided not to share. Allegedly, content in those documents has been validated enough by official Rockstar reveals to blow the doors wide open.

The documents detail an online component that includes Battle Royale, Revive and Survive, and Money Grab modes. There are no specific details on the Battle Royale mode, but one could reasonably assume it'll be similar to PUBG and Fortnite Battle Royale. Revive and Survive pits two teams against each other, essentially as a team deathmatch with limited revives. Money Grab places the focus on objectives as teams fight for bags in a central location.

The online aspect will allegedly operate like GTA Online with players able to explore freely in an open world, but will contain additional depth like NPCs that operate on day/night schedules. Instead of the modern apartments of GTA, players will be able to customize various tents that they'll own and upgrade. Free events like treasure hunts and deathmatches can be organized by players as well, possibly even through a rumored companion app that's planned to launch alongside the game.

The collection of rumors goes on to touch on new gameplay features. In addition to horses, players will be able to use minecarts, handcarts, and horse-drawn carriages that come in different variants like armored or fast. In single-player, there will be horsemanship challenges, plants and herbs to collect, and an in-depth fishing mechanic to supplement the main campaign. Random events like bounty hunting quests, treasure hunts, and "adventures with a mysterious stranger" are mentioned as well. During campaign missions, different character actions can influence how events play out and there may be some sort of gauge of morality in addition to a wanted level. Enemy characters can possibly be interrogated for information depending on how you take them down.

All of these different things will potentially be playable in first-person. GTA V saw the first-person point of view be added to the game after launch, so this isn't too far-fetched. Dead Eye returns, but will work with non-combat events like tracking bounties and detecting fish/animals.

      Gross.

I really hope they keep the free roaming stuff where you and your buddies just roam around the countryside shooting at people who have the misfortune to come across your gang, and gang hideouts. Gang hideouts were the highlight of RDR1 multiplayer. I hope they do something to randomize it so people can't learn the patterns and just roll through a hideout quickly.

A randomly-generated gang hideout could be cool as heck.

yeah. I'd rather they spend the money and time developing a battle royale mode on creating 100+ more random encounter types so that the world feels super alive when you're cooping with yer buds
