Rare Extends Sea of Thieves Closed Beta By Two Days
Due to issues with being able to enter the game during the Closed Beta, Rare is extending the testing period so more people have an opportunity to set sail.
We at Shacknews got an opportunity to play some Sea of Thieves during the Closed Beta and had an incredibly entertaining time, but not without some turbulence at the start. Getting into a match was quite the chore and it seems many others had similar experiences, so Rare is extending the Closed Beta by a couple days.
Update: we're extending the #SeaOfThieves Closed Beta by two days as we know some players are having a rocky time getting into the game. We've posted a Closed Beta Studio Update here: https://t.co/mrgxdjN5W8 pic.twitter.com/v3YBfpuW7i

This excerpt from the full update discusses some other known issues plaguing those attempting to join in on all the pirate fun and sets the Closed Beta close
"Some players who pre-ordered the game digitally are seeing a “too early” message. We have been working with our partners across Xbox to get this resolved as smoothly and as quickly as possible. The fix for the issue began rolling out last night (UK time) and is unfortunately taking longer than anticipated to reach all affected players. We’re sorry that this is the case. We’ve set up a dedicated article for this issue on our Support site.
We know your gaming hours are precious and our number one goal is to get everyone with Closed Beta access into the game as soon as possible. Whilst we work on making this happen, we’d like to announce that we’re extending the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta by two days. This means the Closed Beta will now end on Wednesday, January 31st at 8am GMT. We want to ensure that anyone who has missed out on any time sailing the seas still gets to enjoy the Closed Beta to its fullest."
Be sure to check out our guides if you need help downloading and installing the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta and also check out some beautiful ultrawide footage we got of the game below so you can really see the open sea for all its glory.

The negativity surrounding the beta is astounding on the subreddit. People seem to flat out assume that the retail version will not have any more varied content than the beta, which apparently has even less content accessible than the alpha did.
Don't really know what to think, but I guess I'm just going to wait for reviews and then decide. The concept appeals to me a lot, but if there's nothing to do but sail around and find treasures and fight some repetitive skeletons, that doesn't sound worth full price...
