Super Mario Odyssey Tops 2017 Games Sales On Amazon Before Launch
Nintendo has the top 3 spots for individual games locked up with first-party exclusives for now.
Nintendo is swiftly headed toward its best software sales on a console since 1995. As another testament to this reality, Super Mario Odyssey is at the top of gaming sales on Amazon for 2017 and it isn't even out yet.
While the game doesn't come out until tomorrow, October 27, the embargo floodgates have lifted and the verdict is largely in: Super Mario Odyssey is good. The game is holding at a 97 on Metacritic at the time of this writing with reviews from 65 outlets. This will surely be a relief to the millions of people that have preordered the game, as pre-sales have pushed it to a top seller on Amazon's charts. This info was spotted by user FernandoRocker on ResetEra, the gaming forum that has spawned from the split of NeoGaf's community.
The top three items on Amazon's Best Sellers of 2017 (so far) list are all PlayStation Store cards, but then things give way to individual games. Maro Kart 8 Deluxe checks in at #4, Super Mario Odyssey at #5, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild comes in at #6. That's right: Three Nintendo Switch games are at the top of charts and the console itself is in the #7 spot.
We apologize for not having our review up just yet, but Shacknews wasn't one of the outlets welcomed into the limited VIP club in efforts to prevent leaks. Those efforts failed when the street date was broken, unfortunately, but stay tuned for our review in the near future.
