Pokemon GO Announces New Equinox Event
It won’t be long at all before you can celebrate the equinox by gaining experience more quickly, and by finding new incubators and friends in Pokemon GO.
Pokemon GO is still going strong, more than a year after its launch. Part of its ongoing success is due to themed events that keep giving players new reasons to play, such as the recent addition of Shiny Pikachu. Another event is on its way this week, in fact, to celebrate the equinox.
“With cool autumn nights quickly approaching in the Northern Hemisphere and sunny spring days arriving in the Southern Hemisphere,” the Pokemon GO team posted, “we thought it would be the perfect time to celebrate the coming equinox with an in-game event. New seasons mean new adventures!”
The equinox event will run from 1:00 PM (PDT) on September 22 through the same time on October 2, 2017. While it is underway, trainers earn double Stardust when catching Pokemon and hatching eggs. By visiting local Pokestops and gyms, they will be able to find 2 km eggs, which could hatch Pokemon such as Chansey, Mareep, Larvitar, and others. Special boxes will also be available for purchase in the in-game shop, featuring Lucky Eggs, Lure Modules, and Super Incubators that hatch eggs half again as quickly as the more standard variety.
If you’ve been having trouble leveling up your character, the event also has you covered. When you add a new Pokemon to your Pokedex while the event is running, you’ll receive three times the XP.
“So that makes this a very good time to battle against the Legendary Pokémon originally from the Johto region,” the team’s post adds. “Don’t forget that Raikou, Entei, or Suicune will each travel to a new part of the world on September 30, so make sure to battle the Legendary Pokémon currently in your area while you can!”
If you’re still playing and enjoying Pokemon GO, like many people were as recently as the ill-fated Pokemon GO Fest event held this July, you’re in for a treat for much of the next two weeks. Are there any Pokemon you’re hoping to catch during that window?
