DOOM Brings Demons and Guns to Nintendo Switch This Year
With the release of DOOM, Bethesda Softworks is making sure you have plenty of ugly enemies to shoot on the Nintendo Switch in 2017.
DOOM is coming to Nintendo Switch this holiday season, according to a quick reveal in yesterday’s packed Nintendo Direct stream. The official DOOM account on Twitter also confirmed the news:

DOOM’s impending availability on Nintendo Switch was one of the bigger surprises of the event, and is joined by equally surprising word that Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is also on the way next year. Bethesda Softworks didn’t publish anything on Wii U, and its announced titles for Switch have already matched support the company showed for the Wii console worldwide.
DOOM was originally released on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, where it was a graphical powerhouse (and our pick for the best game of 2016), which may leave some wondering how it can possibly come to a platform other developers have found to be underpowered. It’s important to keep in mind that DOOM was designed to scale down nicely, as needed. Its current minimum specs would allow it to run on a Casio calculator watch, some have joked, so a basic version of the game that you can take with you on the go isn’t out of the question.
Bethesda hasn’t yet shared a lot of information on the port, but since year’s end isn’t far away, we expect a lot of information is forthcoming. Even if we don’t hear a lot between now and launch, there’s plenty to talk about. Are you excited at the thought of playing DOOM on the go, or did you get enough of blasting demons when the game first debuted last year?
