GTA Online Opens Up the Skies With Smuggler's Run DLC Next Week
The name harkens back to Rockstar's PS2 classic from 2000, with airplanes replacing the off-road vehicles.
Rockstar continues to pump out the content for GTA Online, with the latest Smuggler's Run DLC looking to find an heir apparent for poor Nervous Ron, who wants a partner to take over his business empire. If you thought the vehicles were crazy before, wait until you get a look at the new customizable aircraft being added in this update, coming on August 29.
Instead of being confined to the roads and off-roads of Los Santos and Blaine County, this DLC opens up the skies, with players being able to add new planes, choppers and ultralights to new customizable hangars to make smuggling illegal cargo across state lines a bit easier. You will also be getting a new aircraft mechanic named Charlie to keep your aircraft in top flying shape. If the trailer for the DLC is any indication, you will need him.
After this DLC launches, Rockstar is planning more content later this fall. Stunt racing will be modified to included land, sea and air. Checkpoints will instantly change your vehicle to match the course ahead, so players will be expected to master all forms of travel if they want to win their races.
In addition, new adversary modes and four-wheeled vehicles will be coming, as well as holiday celebrations for Halloween and Christmas.
