2K Games has revealed the rest of the playable roster for their first WWE effort, WWE 2K14.
A day before the entire WWE 2K14 roster is revealed, 2K Sports took to Twitter to publicly congratulate Darren Young for coming out and formally welcome the openly gay WWE Superstar to the playable lineup.
2014 will mark the arrival of WrestleMania 30. So, of course WWE 2K14 will commemorate the occasion--by letting you relive highlights from the past thirty years of WWE.
"Amazingly enough, we worked throughout that whole time," said franchise creative director Cory Ledesma, who came to 2K Sports from THQ with most of the WWE team. "I think maybe we were only down half a day as we moved offices, or something like that; it was a really, really seamless transition."
The Ultimate Warrior is coming out of retirement and will be making his franchise debut in WWE 2K14. The only way you will be able to play the "Founding Father of Life Intensity," however, is to pre-order the game.
Despite taking some occasional time off for movies, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been a central figure in the WWE universe. It seems only fitting that with the rebirth of the WWE series under the 2K Sports umbrella that the current WWE Champion becomes the cover boy for WWE 2K14.
Not much has been said about the WWE franchise after publisher Take-Two snapped it up from the remnants of the THQ bankruptcy, but during at least we now know that the new edition of the game will be coming on October 29 to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
As the corpse of THQ is split up and sold off following financial failure and "massive mistakes", we now know where another severed limb will be transplanted. After rumours of an acquisition last month, 2K has confirmed it'll be publishing the WWE series made by Japanese developer Yuke's.
One of THQ's biggest properties was notably absent from today's auction. Rights to the WWE franchise have been sold outside of the formal auction process.
For you RAW and SmackDown wrestling aficionados hoping that WWE '13 would make its way to Wii U or to PC, don't hold your breath. THQ's creative director for the series has confirmed the game is strictly for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
