SteamOS is Valve's free Linux operating system

Valve has revealed the first of its big three Steam-related living room announcements of the week: a custom Linux operating system intended for living room PCs with big screens, named SteamOS. It'll even support streaming Windows and Mac games from your gaming PC. Valve's working on new multimedia and family features for Steam too.

Counter-Strike: GO 'Operation Bravo' brings new maps for $6

After raising over $150,000 for community mappers with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's Operation Payback, not to mention an undisclosed amount for itself, Valve is having another go. Last night it launched Operation Bravo, with another set of maps people can play on official servers if they pony up $6. It also offers exclusive weapon finishes.

Dota 2 'First Blood' update due Monday, with GLaDOS and new mode

Now that Dota 2 has officially launched, some patches more than patches, they are, borrowing the language of Team Fortress 2, Updates. Valve has announced the first big fancy Update for Dota 2, named First Blood, which will launch on Monday with a new picking mode, the ability to host LAN games, and an announcer pack starring Portal's GLaDOS.

Left 4 Dead beta Francis model released for L4D2

Remember how Left 4 Dead's characters looked long ago, before Valve snapped up creator Turtle Rock Studios? A rummage in Valve's archive has dug up the old models, and you can now play the early burly bearded incarnation of loveable biker Francis in Left 4 Dead 2. The other beta survivors may follow later too.
