Trion Worlds' MMO shooter Defiance will kick off its first beta test January 18-20, featuring a tutorial and a handful of maps and modes.

Trion Worlds has already had several closed betas for End of Nations, but apparently there is still work to be done. The company has announced that the planned open beta for the game has been delayed indefinitely.
When the fantasy MMO Rift was first released, it build up a strong following, so much so that publisher Trion Worlds was confident enough to go forward with an expansion called Storm Legion. After two closed betas, the game will hit open beta from November 2-5.
