The Xi3 Piston, better known as one of Valve's first Steam Boxes, had its user interface shown off at SXSW this weekend, just as pre-orders opened.

For yonks, rumours have buzzed about Valve selling its own pre-built PC, fondly nicknamed the 'Steam Box' by fans. Yesterday Valve and Xi3 announced that the Half-Life creator and Steam mastermind had invested in the fledgling hardware company, and that the pair are working on a mini-PC aimed at living rooms with the codename 'Piston.'
Valve's Doug Lombardi has denied rumors that the company is working on consumer hardware, claiming that the "Steam Box" rumors were sparked by boxes built to test the Big Picture mode.
It's long been rumoured that Valve has plans to get into the hardware game. Now a new set of rumours are saying the Steam and Half-Life maker is planning a PC gaming platform, with standardised hardware and software it'll share with companies to make thei
