Sniper Elite V2 launched on Wii U last week, and it didn't take players long to notice something was missing. Namely, the multiplayer modes and leaderboards.

Sniper Elite 3 is in the works for release on PC, current consoles, and next-gen gameboxes in 2014, publisher 505 Games announced today. While last year's Sniper Elite V2 was Rebellion remaking the original snipe 'em up, this time it's a proper shiny new game, going a bit more sandbox-y.

Sniper Elite V2 is getting a "Nazi Zombie Army" mode, and pre-orders open tomorrow on Steam.

Rebellion's bone-splintering snipe 'em up remake Sniper Elite V2 is lining up a new target in its sights, the Wii U. After debuting on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2012, it'll infiltrate Nintendo's shiny new console this spring, all jazzed up with features for the Wii U GamePad.

Sniper Elite V2 came with multiplayer on PC because developer Rebellion self-published that edition and could do as it jolly well pleased, but console publisher 505 Games initially had no interest in online offerings. The snipe 'em up evidently sold well as it pulled a u-turn on that, and from today consoleers can shoot each other's faces off too.

Sniper Elite V2 has gotten a new downloadable content pack today, adding a new mission and two new guns. The game is also on sale for 50% off.

Console players have had a week to play the Sniper Elite V2 demo, and now PC gamers can try out sniping Nazis and watching internal views of their testicles exploding.
