Runic Games CEO Max Schaefer told Shacker Mark "warcrow" DeSanto that the company will make Torchlight 3, but with a "twist."
If you didn't pounce upon Runic's delightful action-RPG Torchlight II when it launched for PC yesterday, perhaps a demo might pique your interest. A small slice is available for your playing pleasure, in case you're wondering if it's as fun to click on monsters until they explode in a shower of coins and items in the sequel (it is).
Runic Games executives have commented that the long-planned Torchlight MMO probably won't be its next project, after having wrapped up Torchlight 2.
"In the long run we want to be known as the people who have the best value in gaming," Runic Games CEO Max Schaefer said, promising to make all future DLC for the game free.
Runic Games discusses some of its post-launch plans for Torchlight 2, and shares thoughts on pricing and piracy.
Torchlight II might launch on Thursday, but that's still positively ages to wait for chilling new tunes from Matt Uelmen, the mastermind behind the original's tunes and the Diablo series' most iconic music. Huzzah, then, for developer Runic Games today released the 74-minute soundtrack for free. You now have music for your private launch party.

The original Torchlight came out when Diablo III still seemed woefully far away, and more than filled that gaping action-RPG hole with its charming clicking ways. The sequel was once supposed to launch before but it turns out we're all still just as excited for Torchlight II even though Blizzard beat it to the click-punch. Good news! Developer Runic Games has finally announced that it'll launch for PC and Mac on September 20.
