The final version of Magicka: Wizard Wars is out today and Paradox Interactive is celebrating with a new game mode.
Magicka: Wizard Wars will enter open beta on May 27, Paradox announced today.
Magicka: Wizard Wars will be adding a Duel Mode to its public alpha very soon, just in case there's that one magical robed jerk that you'd like to kill personally.
Magicka: Wizard Wars is Paradox North's PvP take on the magic-combining franchise. Originally planned for a 2014 release on PC, the developer has decided to launch the free-to-play game into public alpha via Steam Early Access today.
March's announcement of the PvP-only Magicka: Wizard Wars was a funny one, as though we did all zap our wizard chums with friendly fire for kicks in Magicka, half the fun was the plausible deniability of having monsters to kill. Still, it's looking pretty in the first gameplay trailer, released today to announce alpha signups are now open.
You may not have guessed it, from how many Arcane Novas and Steam Lightning Storms were cast in the direction of other players, but wacky action-RPG Magicka was originally a co-op game. PvP arenas were added free DLC to formalise the wizard-on-wizard violence, and the next game goes even further. Announced today by publisher Paradox, Magicka: Wizard Wars is a purely PvP affair, boasting 4v4 magic man action.
