After pulling Deus Ex: Human Revolution off of their shelves, GameStop's drama is seemingly coming to an end today, with the company offering reparation to customers that purchased a copy of the game--only to find it had been gutted.
GameStop is now pulling PC copies of Deus Ex: Human Revolution to return them to Square Enix. Meanwhile, Square itself has issued a public statement on the issue.
Some are questioning if there can be any legal ramifications against GameStop for removing OnLive vouchers from DXHR. Mark Methenitis, attorney and industry analyst, said that "it's probably legal."
GameStop employees are being told to "immediately remove and discard the OnLive coupon from all Regular PC versions of Deus Ex: Human Revolution." Shacknews investigates.
The cyberpunk RPG is, fittingly, "the first video game disc packaged with a free cloud gaming copy." PC retail editions include a free code for a full copy of the game on OnLive.
The cloud gaming service will launch in the UK on September 22, letting Her Majesty's subjects buy, rent and demo PC games rendered remotely and streamed live over t'Internet.
