Obsidian Entertainment has been releasing a decent amount of concept art and development news for Project Eternity, its crowdfunded ode to isometric RPGs. But we have seen precious few screens from the game itself. But now 10 have appeared showing off the studio's work in progress.
Obsidian has returned to the site of Project Eternity's first screenshot for a proper in-motion look at the crowdfunded retro RPG's pre-rendered backgrounds. These aren't your younger self's pre-rendered backgrounds, oh no, as they're jazzed up with shiny tech like dynamic lighting and water which can ebb and flow.
Obsidian and inXile are awfully chummy, with a shared history going back to Interplay and Black Isle Studios and close enough that they want to lend members like a cup of sugar. Both Californian studios are making crowdfunded Unity-based old-school RPGs too, and so are putting their heads together. inXile today announced that they'll be collaborating on tools and tech with each other.
While Aliens fans lick the acid from wounds inflicted by Colonial Marines, thirteen minutes of gameplay from a development version of Obsidian Entertainment's cancelled RPG Aliens: Crucible have surfaced. It's clearly not finished, but if you want to squint and daydream about what could have been, please do.
