Audio-only horror game Deep Sea released

So many fine-looking indie games pop up at games events but never get proper releases, leaving most of us gazing admiringly at photos and YouTube videos. Scratch one from your list of cool event-only games, as Robin Arnott has released Deep Sea, an audio-only sensory deprivation game which has you wear a blacked-out gas mask. You'll need to provide your own gas mask. Some assembly required.

Celebrate StarCraft's 15th birthday with retro portraits for SC2

StarCraft turns 15 today and, to celebrate the big day, Blizzard will hand out special retro portraits to StarCraft II players. The faces from the original game's box art, once so fiercesome and stunningly realistic but now a bit goofy and so plainly CG, can grace your SC profile if you play at least one online game in the next few weeks.

Starsector trailer shows top-down fleet action

Building up your own fleet of customised spaceships, recruiting crews, trading goods, and blowing the merry heck of enemy fleets in top-down tactical battles sounds pretty great. "That Alice," a rhetorical device mutters, "off daydreaming again!" But no, this is a real video game and I'm not simply pouring whimsy into a text box. A new Starsector trailer warped in yesterday, showing just those sorts of galactic lovelies.

Broken Age debut trailer is lovely

Gosh, the artwork Double Fine used when revealing its crowdfounded adventure game as Broken Age was so nice, if only the game could actually look like that. Oh! My my, it actually does. The first trailer debuted during the Game Developers Choice Awards last night and yes, it's looking quite delightful.

The Wolf Among Us is Telltale's Fables game, coming summer

Over two years after Telltale announced an episodic adaptation of the comic book series Fables, and a year after it was initially slated to launch, the Walking Dead maker today revealed it's coming this summer for PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Named The Wolf Among Us, it's set before the comic kicked off and stars Bigby, the Big Bad Wolf himself.

Diablo 3 rollback tweaks target item duping

People have been awfully naughty abusing Diablo III's account rollback feature, which is only there to help people who've been hacked. First, Blizzard had to fix it to stop babies from resurrecting permadead Hardcore characters, and now it's making changes to stop charlatans duping items.

Meta-RPG Knights of Pen & Paper coming to PC

Yo dawg, I heard you like RPGs, so I put an RPG in your RPG so you can roleplay as you roleplay. People tell me I'm "funny". But hey, look, Paradox Interactive is bringing Behold Studios's "meta-RPG" Knights of Pen & Paper to PC in a shiny +1 Edition, so people sitting at desks can roleplay people sitting at tables roleplaying fantasy heroes off on adventures.

EVE Online: Odyssey expansion enhancing joys of exploration in June

Space is good because spaceships can shoot each other with lasers in it, but also because good grief it is colossal and amazing and filled with so many things we can scarcely begin to imagine. With that in mind, the next free EVE Online expansion, named Odyssey, will launch on June 4 with a number of shiny new features to make exploring e-space even cooler than it already is.

Broken Age is Double Fine's crowdfunded adventure game

In March 2012, Double Fine Productions kicked off the video game crowdfunding goldrush when it raised $3,335,371 in one month to make a new adventure game. Though part of the drive was to fund a documentary recording its progress, it has been a little secretive, but at least we now know the most basic detail: it's called Broken Age.
