Among the Sleep scares up alpha demo

Having played Among the Sleep, I can confidently say I'll never choose to be a baby. It is awful. Scary things happen and I don't know why and I can't even reach door handles. I will play one in a video game, though. As the end of its crowdfunding campaign nears, developer Krillbite has released a demo from an early alpha build of the first-person scarer to lure in more backers.

Humble Double Fine Bundle launched

Humble Bundle yesterday launched a new pay-what-you-want package of games that's more than acceptable, more than just fine, it's Double Fine. I'll explain the amusing pun: for as much or as little as you fancy paying, you can get Double Fine Productions' lovely games Stacking, Costume Quest, and Psychonauts. If you're not stingy, Brutal Legend and Broken Age are up for grabs too.

Torment: Tides of Numenera hits final stretch goal

inXile Entertainment set a Kickstarter record by raising $4,188,927 for Torment: Tides of Numera, but the crowdfunding continued elsewhere once that wound up. See, the developer was hoping to reach $4.5 million and fund its very final stretch goal, adding strongholds for players to call home. As you may have guessed from, you know, how I wrote all this, it's done just that.

Anomaly 2 pre-orders offer free extra copy

Tower offense Anomaly 2 will launch on May 15, developer 11 Bit Studios has announced, and you can pre-order now for a tasty little bonus. Along with the obligatory 10% discount, bringing it down to $13.49, you'll get a second copy for free to give to a friend or loved one. As the sequel introduces multiplayer, this way you needn't worry about facing those awful people of the Internet.

Shadowrun Returns enters the Matrix

Cyberspace was cut from the original design for Shadowrun Returns to keep the crowdfunded RPG at a reasonable scale and budget, but what's cyberpunk with a virtual world? After tossing out loads of ideas, developer HareBrained Schemes has finally found a way to make the Matrix work, albeit less vast than in the tabletop RPG.

Defense Grid 2 secures funding

Development on a sequel to splendid tower defense Defense Grid: The Awakening will indeed go ahead, Hidden Path Entertainment has announced. The developer tried to crowdfund Defense Grid 2 last summer and fell short, but has now landed an investor to shake out their pockets in its eager hands.

Jagged Alliance: Flashback launches Kickstarter

Hey, you! You like good old video games, don't you? You grumble and gripe about today's games with the best of them, don't you? Well then, prove it. Frontline Tactics developer Full Control today launched a crowdfunding campaign for the old-school, properly-turned based tactical Jagged Alliance: Flashback. The studio would like a very reasonable $350,000 to make an old video game, like you keep telling everyone is best.
