Broken Age running out of money, releasing in two halves on Steam Early Access

Raising $3.4 million may have been far beyond Broken Age's crowdfunding goal of $400,000, but Tim Schafer has said that "didn't stop me from getting excited and designing a game so big that it would need even more money." Facing running out of cash to make the adventure game, Double Fine plans to polish up the first half and release it on Steam Early Access while finishing the rest.

Another eight games get the Greenlight on Steam

As lovely as Steam is, it's a shame that many people refuse to buy games not on Valve's store when indie developers need to jump through hoops to get on there. Another eight games have manager to clear the Greenlight process and secure a Steam release, including Guncraft, Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller, and Super Motherload.

Beatbuddy brings the noise on August 6

It may not matter if rights-holder EA has no interest in careful top-down tactical games, as Syndicate Wars co-creator Mike Diskett is crowdfunding a "spiritual successor" to Bullfrog's classic cyberpunk series under the name Satellite Reign.

Publisher Oddworld Inhabitants has revealed another four platforms for Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, bringing it up to seven. As well as PC, PS3, and Vita, Just Add Water's "re-creation" of vintage platformer Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is now confirmed for PlayStation 4, Wii U, Mac and Linux.
