Elite: Dangerous trailer shows off multiplayer alpha action

Chris Roberts's Star Citizen may be the big crowdfunded multiplayer space bonanza grabbing everyone's attention and money but hey, let's not forget about Elite: Dangerous. The long, long-awaited new space sim from Frontier Developments has rolled out the first version of its multiplayer to backers, and a new trailer details a little of what we'll be able to get up to with our chums in cold, unforgiving space space.

Zoo Tycoon (Xbox One) review: Zoo Impossible

Frontier Developments caught my attention with a game that promised "Tycoon" style sim management and, yes, the ability to play with adorable animals. What I didn't expect was how deep and satisfying the sim would be.

Zoo Tycoon coming to Xbox One and 360 from Kinectimals dev

Microsoft is drawing Zoo Tycoon back from extinction, revealing during E3 that it's brought the zoo management series back for Xbox One and Xbox 360. As one might expect from Kinectimals creator Frontier Developments, the new game also named simply Zoo Tycoon plays up the 'staring at cute animals' side even more, and disconcertingly this may be the main focus.

Elite: Dangerous Kickstarter ends hitting stretch goals

Frontier Developments was awfully ambitious in asking for a whopping £1,250,000 (around $2 million) in crowd-funding to make Elite: Dangerous. Even with a two-month funding period--double the length of your typical video game Kickstarter--it only hit that goal with 52 hours left. Still, a flurry of pledges in the final days not only shoved it across the line, but brought in enough dough to fund a Mac edition and extra ships too.

Elite: Dangerous video shows sky rockets in flight

A shocking rash of industry veterans hopping on the crowd-funding gravy train lately have banked on selling the idea by reputation alone, with very little to say about the actual game they're planning to make. David Braben's Kickstarter for Elite: Dangerous was one of these sorry pitches, but after a fortnight it's finally shown off some gameplay footage.

Elite 4 turns to Kickstarter

Fans of classic sandbox space sim series Elite have clamored for a sequel for yonks, but creator David Brabern's studio Frontier Developments has been occupied putting out games like Kinectimals and Kinect Disneyland Adventures. Now it's finally ready to give a new Elite a proper go and has turned to Kickstarter (where else?) for $2 million, but the pitch is astonishingly barebones, hoping that tugging at your nostalgia gland will be sufficient.
