Wrath of Heroes enters open beta

As CCP winds up to launch Dust 514 later this year, it's given the business model a shake-up. The PlayStation 3-exclusive EVE Online tie-in FPS will be entirely free-to-play, turning away from previous plans for a "cover charge."

EverQuest free-to-play launch dated for March 15

The free-to-play launch of EverQuest will come almost exactly 13 years after the pioneering MMORPG's original release. Having launched on March 16, 1999 with a $10 monthly subscription (raised to $15 over time), it'll be going F2P on March 15, 2012.

Blacklight: Retribution open beta begins Feb 27

Zombie Studios' multiplayer shooter Blacklight: Retribution will enter open beta testing on February 27. While the original Blacklight: Tango Down hit consoles as well as PC, the free-to-play follow-up is a PC exclusive with DirectX 11 bells and whistles.
