PlanetSide 2 patch boosts performance

Just a week shy of PlanetSide 2's first birthday, Sony Online Entertainment has given players a welcome gift. Today brings the launch of the patch jazzily named 'Performance Update 01,' which, well, does exactly what it says on the tin. The core engine and UI now make better use of multi-core processors and oh gosh, that's just the beginning.

Hawken adds co-op survival mode

Shooting people, we're to understand, is wrong, yet shooting AIs is somehow fine. If that's in line with your monstrous morals, mechtastic free-to-play FPS Hawken has now added a co-op mode. You and your chums team up in Bot Destruction to murder waves of AI drones, mechs, and boss bots whose only crime is wanting to live.

RuneScape farmed gold drops 81% after official gold sales added

Ooh, those gold farmers, how they infuriate MMORPG players so! The way to combat them seems pretty clear, though: add an official way to buy gold. Jagex has reported an 81% drop in the amount of farmed gold floating around its free-to-play RuneScape in the month since it added a sanctioned 'bonds' to buy gold for cash.

PopCap promises 'closer parity' between iOS and Android games in the future

Plants vs Zombies 2 took over two months to move from iOS to Android. For fans that don't have an iDevice, the wait was excruciating. However, PopCap says that they're learning, and promises future releases will come at a much quicker pace. "Going forward, you'll see much closer parity between [iOS and Android]," PopCap's Tony Leamer said.
