Blizzard has filed an official dispute with the USPTO over Valve trademarking "DOTA" for Dota 2, claiming people will think it's connected with Blizzard, and that Valve's trying to steal goodwill it built up. Valve, naturally, denies this.
Blizzard's going back to the drawing back on its DotA-inspired StarCraft 2 mod Blizzard All-Stars, hoping to reach the accessible core it believes is in the notoriously intimidating genre. Just don't ask about the "DotA" name.
Ukrainian team Na'vi lifted the novelty over-sized check for $1 million at the final of Valve's Dota 2 tournament on Sunday. Valve plans hold a similar event annually with "the best in the world" of Dota 2.
Gabe Newell doesn't think Dota 2 will launch this year, and the payment model is still undecided. There's good news, though: Valve expects to begin stress testing "a few weeks" after Gamescom.
