Bethesda has revealed the first teaser for an all-new DOOM game, with more information coming at this year's QuakeCon.
While MachineGames' shooter is cross-gen, the Doom beta will not. Bethesda has confirmed that the beta will only be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
While id software has always been a forerunner in advanced technology and engine development, it is that very technology that is making it harder for the studio to continue to purse the creation of mod tools and easily moddable games, id studio director Tim Willits said.
Doom 4 now has the full focus of id Software, following the project restarting earlier this year.
Hey, remember Doom 4? Bethesda admits that it "did not exhibit the quality and excitement" it needed to, while a new report goes into what went wrong with the game's development.
As it does so very kindly like to do, id Software has released another dollop of engine source code. This latest is somewhat less exciting than many, simply offering the updated Doom 3 source from the BFG Edition but hey, now the folks at home can make the best and shiniest D3 games yet.
A "Doom Classic Complete" set is set to hit PlayStation Network today, which includes Doom, Doom 2, and Final Doom. In other words: lots of Doom.
Bethesda is recommending that you play Doom 3 BFG on your Xbox 360 off the disk if you want to play the original Doom packaged with the game. Why? A glitch in the program makes Doom inaccessible if Doom 3 BFG is installed on the hard drive.
It's time for a trip back to hell as Doom 3 BFG Edition launches today with a scary-as-hell trailer. Appropriate, no?
