Crytek have launched a new version of its CryEngine. But, don't call it "CryEngine 4." The company has dropped numbers entirely, as they describe their middleware "an ever-evolving technology service."
As you'd probably guessed, Crytek's Xbox One exclusive historical murder simulator Ryse: Son of Rome will indeed have multiplayer. Microsoft today revealed its 'Gladiator' mode, which throws chaps into an arena to cut each others' faces off. Well, at least it looks less like an absurd charade of QTEs than the E3 campaign demo.
Snow, the open-world CryEngine 3 winter sports game, is getting an alpha release later this year.

Crytek likes action games, given the Far Cry and Crysis series, and the recently revealed Roman war title Ryse for Xbox One. But it appears that the developer is working on a new tactical action title exclusively for iOS called The Collectibles.
Powered by the latest version of CryEngine, the debut Xbox One trailer of Ryse impressed audiences at Microsoft's E3 press conference--even if the gameplay seemed a bit too reliant on QTEs.

Not much has been heard of Crytek's gladiator-style fighting game Ryse since it was announced for Xbox 360 at E3 2011. But rumors of its shift to Microsoft's next-gen console have been confirmed by the company's website.
A set of achievements appears to have revealed an upcoming multiplayer DLC pack for Crysis 3.
"People say that graphics don't matter, but play Crysis and tell me they don't matter. It's always been about graphics driving gameplay," CEO Cevat Yerli said.
