Toddler horror Among the Sleep dreams up Kickstarter

Babies are so stupid. They're tiny little idiots who think the world ends if you cover their eyes and are scared of almost everything. They're rubbish. But imagine you were one of these miniature fools in, fleeing unreal terrors in your onesie. That's unpleasant. Among the Sleep wants to do that to you, if you'll help crowd-fund it.

Death Inc. turns to alpha funding, costs $10

Death Inc. may have failed its crowdfunding attempt, but developer Ambient Studios hasn't given up. It's continued making the game and today launched an alphafunding program, letting you pre-order the Pikmin-y, Dungeon Keeper-ish, soul-harvesting RTS for $10 and score instant access to development builds.

Portalarium Kickstarter ends, over $2 million pledged in total

Yes, yes, people really are quite keen to see a new RPG from Ultima creator Richard 'Lord British' Garriott de Cayeux. Kickstarter crowdfunding for his new game, Shroud of the Avatar, wrapped up on Sunday just short of $2 million, and was pushed over that mark by direct pledges outside Kickstarter. As developer Portalarium originally sought only one million dollars, all sorts of futures have been bunged in through stretch goals.

Torment: Tides of Numenera sets Kickstarter record

inXile Entertainment's Torment: Tides of Numenera has set a new Kickstarter record as the most-funded video game in the crowdfunding site's history, wrapping up over the weekend with a whopping $4,188,927 in pledges. It raked in at least $127,000 or so in direct pledges too. The RPG's crowdfunding campaign isn't over quite yet, as inXile will keep things running until the end of April to try to hit its $4.5 million stretch goal of a stronghold for players to call their very own.

Dark Age of Camelot lead designer crowdfunding new MMORPG

Gosh, the name Dark Age of Camelot still holds an awful lot of weight. Mark Jacobs, lead designer of the MMORPG and once co-founder of its developer Mythic, launched a crowdfunding campaign for a new realm vs. realm MMO on Tuesday, and it's going swimmingly. Jacobs's new venture City State Entertainment is looking for a whopping $2,000,000 to make Camelot Unchained, which may seem awfully ambitious but pledges passed $500,000 in only eight hours. Goodness!

Torment: Tides of Numenera delayed before Kickstarter ends

InXile Entertainment's highly successful Kickstarter campaign for Torment: Tides of Numenera has three days left to go, with almost $3.4 million pledged for the spiritual successor to PlaneScape: Torment. But already, the developer is letting backers and fans know that they expect to need more time to develop the game past the planned release late next year.

inXile and Obsidian sharing RPG tools and tech

Obsidian and inXile are awfully chummy, with a shared history going back to Interplay and Black Isle Studios and close enough that they want to lend members like a cup of sugar. Both Californian studios are making crowdfunded Unity-based old-school RPGs too, and so are putting their heads together. inXile today announced that they'll be collaborating on tools and tech with each other.

Divinity: Original Sin turns to Kickstarter for polish

Larian Studios announced Divinity: Original Sin in May 2012, and there was much rejoicing. Almost a year later, and after two years of actual development, it's shuffling back a little sheepishly to ask if maybe we could help pay for it. Larian wants $400,000 to apply a bold spit-shine to the RPG prequel, and is hoping we can crowdfund it.
