A follow-up to Persona 4 Arena has been announced. The sequel-of-sorts will add two additional fighters: Yukari and Junpei, both from Persona 3.
Arc System Works is best known for developing fighting games like Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, but it also publishes them. For those who fancy a face-puncher starring goths, chefs and vampires, Arc's bringing the PlayStation 3 port of arcade fighter Chaos Code westward via PSN.
The fine folks at Aksys Games are continuing to feed us fine games from Japan, announcing today that BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma will arrive on North American PS3s in 2014. It's the fifth in the BlazBlue fighting series from Arc System Works, the famed fightfans also responsible for the many Guilty Gear games and Persona 4 Arena.
Fighting games held onto sprites longer than many other genres, but they too eventually began shifting into 3D and some of their charm was lost in the process. Sure, Street Fighter 4 looks pretty, but it's not quite the same. After fifteen years of sprites, Guilty Gear is finally going 3D with Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- and oh my! it emulates that sprite-y style magnificently.
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus will release for the PlayStation 3 on December 4 for $14.99. No Xbox Live Arcade plans have been announced for North America.
Persona 4 Arena landed on North American store shelves yesterday but if you picked the fighting game up on Xbox 360 and found it a bit laggy, fear not; a patch is coming. Publisher Atlus has also issued reassurances about the huge amount of launch-day DLC for the curious spin-off from its RPG series.
Persona 4 Arena has the dubious honor of being the first region-locked game on PS3. Watch out, importers.
Atlus announced today that Persona 4 Arena will launch on August 7, confirming that it'll boast both Japanese and English voiceover options. With BlazBlue developer Arc System Works at the helm, the strange tie-in may prove quite interesting indeed.
Persona 4 Arena, the hand-drawn 2D fighting game features characters from Persona 3 and 4, is coming to North America.
