Legend of Grimrock was a fine modern take on the classic grid-based dungeon crawler, but its enemy AI wasn't as shiny as its graphics, with monsters happy to amble gently after backpedalling players while having their faces hacked off. Adventurers needn't feel guilty in Legend of Grimrock 2, though, as Almost Human has said it's "entirely" rewritten the AI in the sequel. The developer also revealed a few more details and several screenshots.

"Every character level gained should feel special," Legend of Grimrock 2 developer Almost Human has said, explaining that the sequel brings a "major redesign" of its retro dungeon crawler's skill system. No longer will heroes need to pump points into just a few skills, as each individual point now does something actually useful.

The original Legend of Grimrock kept players crawling through a dank, dark dungeon but oh, the sequel is looking so sunny. Developer Almost Human today released the very first screenshot from Legend of Grimrock 2, showing a serene forest with dappled shade. Surely no marauding monster could disturb that peace.

Indie developer Almost Human did incredibly well with its first title, old-school dungeon crawler Legend of Grimrock. Now the company is ready to move on and give the game a sequel.

Initially available only on Steam, it lets you make everything from your own levels to, ah, an angry cow on wheels.
