Square Enix may be making a sequel to a subsequel of a sequel, but there's still not enough Final Fantasy in this world. To help address this crippling deficit, it's working on "remastered" versions of PlayStation 2 FF games Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2, for release on PlayStation 3 and Vita later this year.
Final Fantasy X's HD remastering will include X-2 on PlayStation 3. It will be based on the International Version, giving access to extra features previously unreleased in the US.
Square Enix has released a benchmark test for Final Fantasy XIV so you can gauge whether your PC will be able to handle the workload.
Remember the Final Fantasy X HD remake? Square Enix has finally shown off footage from the game, running on a Vita.
The Final Fantasy XIV beta will begin on February 25. Producer Naoki Yoshida detailed some of the features that await testers of phase 1, which is set to last 2-4 weeks.
Final Fantasy games are getting a 50% sale for the next two weeks, and Namco Bandai is holding a similar sale for four weeks.
By moving to a new "Amazing ATB" battle system, Lightning Returns may represent the boldest change for a mainline Final Fantasy game ever.
While the upcoming Lightning Returns is effectively "Final Fantasy XIII-3," there are many reasons why Square Enix opted to avoid that title. Yoshinori Kitase, producer of the franchise, told us that one of the reasons for the unconventional title is to bolster sales numbers.
A beta roadmap for Final Fantasy XIV shows the game's earliest betas beginning in February, and the beta coming to the US in late March at the earliest.
