Halo developer 343 Industries has announced a lot of changing positions at the studio for upcoming projects. The team has a new creative director, a new executive producer, and a new art director, among other changes.
Microsoft has, somewhat disingenuously, used Halo: Spartan Assault to advertise "having Halo" on Windows 8, when it's really only a so-so twin-stick shooter set within the same pointless fiction. Still, if you fancy having a bash but not buying Windows 8, good news: the game's coming to Xbox 360 and Xbox One in December.
Halo: Spartan Assault--the first official Halo game on PC in eons--shipped without any support for Xbox 360 controllers. It was an especially odd decision, given that the game was a twin-stick shooter. That glaring oversight is being addressed in a new title update coming August 29th.
Apparently someone did name Halo 4 "Game of the Year." So that means Microsoft is technically allowed to release a GOTY edition of 343's debut...
Halo: Spartan Assault is hitting Windows 8 PCs and mobile devices today, according to a date briefly dropped on the official site.
Question: do you intend to be playing Halo 4's multiplayer in August? If so, you may be interested in the new DLC maps, mode and skins coming August 20. If not, you know, scroll down to read a story about a dog that reminded a wayward soul of the power of love by by barking when he got a frag in Quake, or something.
The previously-dubbed Halo "Reclaimer Trilogy" isn't necessarily a trilogy anymore, as Microsoft says it has "expanded to more of a saga."
You'll never guess what, right: Microsoft's making a new Halo game for the Xbox One. I know! The as-yet-unnamed game is due in 2014 and all we can safely say for certain is that it features some manner of colossal robot-space-angel. Sure, that'll do nicely.
Halo is coming back to PC... but not in the way you may have wanted.
Microsoft has announced a live-action Halo series in conjunction with film great Steven Spielberg. Not too many details were announced other than 343 Studios will be involved and Spielberg is thrilled to be a part of the experience.
