Grand Theft Auto Online virtual cash sales hinted at

As Grand Theft Auto V hit $1 billion in sales within three days, why, Rockstar is surely gleefully eating burritos made from $100 bills and minced nickels and dimes. It seems the online element will help us live such, dreams virtually at least, as recently-uncovered files suggest Grand Theft Auto Online may sell cash cards as DLC. Lucky us!

Grand Theft Auto V sold $800 million on launch day

I was watching the news today, and apparently a new video game named Grand Theft Auto V is out. Who knew? It seems pretty popular too, as Take-Two has announced it raked in the highest first-day sales in not only the GTA series, but the company's entire history too. With estimated sales of over $800 million, it should even break Activision's four-year streak of boasting that the new Call of Duty is the year's biggest entertainment launch.

Shack PSA: don't install GTA 5's 'Play' disc on Xbox 360

"I don't want to post more stories about Grand Theft Auto V today," I mutter, "but it is the biggest launch in yonks, and this is relevant." Fine. Right then. More GTA 5 stories. GTA 5 companion app brings custom cars and virtual pet

One more thing: you need the companion app. Dropped unexpectedly onto iOS today, 'iFruit' lets you customise cars to drive in GTA V, and care for Franklin's pet dog Chop to make him more useful in-game.

3D Realms 'voluntarily withdraws' lawsuit against Gearbox

Back in June, Duke Nukem creator 3D Realms sued Duke Nukem Forever co-developer Gearbox Software for over $1.3 million. However, it appears Gearbox has walked away the winner, with 3D Realms "voluntarily withdrawing" their claim.

Grand Theft Auto movie offers not 'worth risking one's crown jewels'

Given that Grand Theft Auto games increasingly are love letters to crime movies, it is a little curious that we haven't seen Hollywood tackle GTA yet. We've already been cursed with Dead or Alive and Postal movies, after all, and Rockstar clearly aches to be taken seriously. The problem, series writer Dan Houser has said, is that no one's made a good enough offer.

XCOM: Enemy Within trailer shows 5 minutes of gameplay

Grenades spitting needles, snipers leaping metres into the air, punching aliens to death with your mechsuit, and other treats are shown off in a five-minute narrated gameplay trailer for XCOM: Enemy Unknown's expansion Enemy Within. Yes, it's a very scripted demo, but mechsuit.
