Digital distribution outlets Steam, Direct2Drive and Impulse have chimed in with their top PC games of the past week, offering a look at what's hot, what's not, and such.
While it's no great surprise to see anticipated sci-fi games like Mass Effect 2 and Star Trek Online in the listings, pre-orders for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 still managed to top the Steam chart--no doubt bolstered by the pre-order multiplayer beta underway.
Also of note is the impact of discounts. Following a sale where Psychonauts was $2 on Steam, it ranked a respective 8--all the more impressive considering that Steam's list is based on revenue, not volume. Other discounted titles include Company of Heroes (Steam), Red Faction: Guerrilla (D2D) and Gratuitous Space Battles (Impulse).
Lastly, let's not forget that Steam is the only digital distribution outlet that's selling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 PC, as the game requires a Steam install to play.

I'm going to say it again: BFBC2 was a disappointment!

To be honest, I only ever played the original Battlefield.
I am not very fond of driving things and flying which is why I lost interest in the series.
Then I heard about Frostbite and 100% destructible environments, made me do a 180. Sounds like it would be fun to play with my mates. Like Day of Defeat but more destructiony and futury.

So, I say the game isn't that great, and I'm some how retarded? I would bet money the game will fade out of popularity in a few short months just like every single other Battlefield game.
Take a look at EA Forums or Twitter to get an idea of how people are responding to the game. I'm in no way the only one! If anything, Shackers are a bit alone in their support for this title. I am talking about the PC version, not any of the console versions.-

I love the sniping in TF2 and other games with easymode sniping but the levels in those games aren't open specifically for that reason. I like playing custom sniper levels in TF2, CS as much as anyone else but those levels only work because everyone is a sniper (or a spy in the case of TF2)
So in terms of gameplay balance the BF2 design works better. It doesn't seem to stop snipers from killing people as you also get complaints from people that they can't run into the open without being sniped (a lot of people complaining because they didn't win more than anything)
Some people like perfect hitscan weapons and that's fine for them but saying a game is crap because it doesn't doesn't really prove anything to me. I know some people who won't play any game besides CS because that's what they are familiar with, which runs into the point that people are reporting on their experiences that are colored by previous experiences, they aren't only a reporting on the game at hand.

You still haven't given any details as to why the game "was a disappointment" yet... At least give some evidence/ examples otherwise you're just a pointless whinger...
The PC version is still heavily in Beta anyway. The graphics haven't been optimised and the game is still under heavy development. You "reviewing" the game at this stage is just ignorant considering its still not out for another month.

"was" a disappointment? The PS3 Beta was freakin' awesome. I haven't played the PC beta yet (I haven't got a code from anywhere which blows). I really wanna try it out on PC. I'll just grab the PS3 demo when it comes out in a couple days and play it some more there.
I don't see how it "Was" a disappointment if your referring to a beta of a game that isn't out for a month. Especially one this awesome. -
I'm a huge fan of Battlefield from 1942 to 2142. I've been waiting a long time for another Battlefield game on the PC.
Coming from MW2, my initial reaction after my first match was that I didn't like it. It felt loose and little sloppy compared to MW2. But when I began to put more hours into it, it started to remind me of what I used to love about the series. I loved the composition between the different classes, vehicles and the addition of destructible environments. It creates a game that is truly dynamic. Its a blast when you get a friend or few together in a squad and actually work together makes for more memorable moments with this single level than I had at any point with MW2.
The game may be smaller than BF2, but it concentrates the battle so you don't spend so long getting to it. Conflict is more dense and because of it more complex. I would love to see what they could do with this engine if the game was made strictly for the PC but for now I'm totally loving BC2. -
I have to say I was fairly surprised at the amount of attention to detail Dice has shown in BC2. All weapons are fairly accurately modeled with their respective safeties in the off and/or full auto position. The point of impact appears to be ballistically matched with the scope graticules, though there is no way to tell how well without a means to find range. That is to say that when using the SV-98 and 12x optic and engaging at a range of (presumably) 200m aiming at the second hash mark will produce the desired point of impact (each chevron should signify a graduation of 250m, but it seems in-game each chevron is more like 50-100m). The standard optic seems to interpret each hash mark as 150m shifting the point of impact, at a range of (again, presumably) 200m, to just under the first hash mark. I can't tell if there is visible magnification between the scopes as I haven't compared screen caps side by side. The point is that one could use the graduations in a true-to-life form, which is a drastic improvement over BF2's system.
