Retailers List StarCraft 2 for December 3 Release

Updated retailer listings for Blizzard Entertainment's StarCraft II (PC) suggest that the long-awaited RTS sequel may be slated for a December 3 release, according to a Joystiq report.

Though developer Blizzard has not yet formally announced a release date for the game, listings on electronics retailers Best Buy, Circuit City and GameStop's websites all pin StarCraft II's street date as December 3.

Game retailers often assign release dates for anticipated upcoming titles in the absence of official information—for example, GameStop slates the recently delayed Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3) for a December 13 release.

However, it is unlikely that three retailers would coincidentally select the same placeholder date the week before Blizzard's 2008 Worldwide Invitational, where the company is expected to announce more details about the game.

The event is scheduled to take place in Paris, France on June 28 and June 29.

  Yup. I learned years ago that anything with Blizzard or Valve on it had no release date until Gold status was announced.

    Blizzard do stick to their release dates. This here, however, isn't a release date, it's just a guess made by retailers. If Blizzard will officially announce it, then I'll believe it. Their last two official release dates (WoW and WoW: TBC) were fine, but of course they were only made shortly in advance.

      Yup. They don't do official release dates 6+ months in advance. They tell you when they are damn well ready to tell you.

  this could be true.... currently its being played in competitions that is sc2. So there are still units/testing to be had but this isnt so far fetched.

  No, I always thought this was going to come out by the end of the year and I'm sure it will. I've had visions about it, the Protheans told me about it in a beacon I found and was later confirmed by a red holographic Reaper... o wait wrong game :(
