I missed out on Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land when I was a kid, so I decided to revisit it. Mario Land 2 is one of the best platformers on Game Boy, but Wario Land is even better. Wario is looking for treasure to rebuild his castle. Your objective is to collect treasures hidden in certain levels. The level design is nonlinear so that finding treasures is a challenge, and there are lots of places to explore.
My only complaint is that some of the mechanics, such as jumping and throwing enemies, feel a little off. Jumps are too floaty, and enemies bounce around somewhat sporadically, making them hard to shoulder-block and collect coins from them. Otherwise, Wario Land is a great platformer with lots of exploration, and a can’t-miss Game Boy title.
