The Cleveland Browns are dealing with an ongoing coronavirus outbreak, and Hitler isn't having it.

You personally have nuked anti-Semitic jokes about gas chambers and shit here in the past, but you’re ok with this on a public facing Shacknews page because you’re mad about your football team, when there are plenty of funny Me Mad memes on the Internet to use? I know Lola is a good dog, but you don’t have one of her acting all crazy?
This doesn’t help this site or our community.

Show me one normal American Jew (or any other minority) who feels like laughing about the Hitler Downfall meme this week, after watching a bunch of nazis who’ve been yucking it up to that meme since they were kids bust up the Capitol.
Also, do I even need to point out you’re Jewsplaining me? I know you normally have sensitivity to that sort of thing, so this is weird.
Note: I haven’t said take it down or anything. But I wasn’t going to sit quietly about it either. I’m glad I can voice my perspective and I hope it makes a difference to some folks.
No thanks. It is important to bring this up. I’m being civil.
There just isn’t any room right now to gloss over the detritus of the Internet that’s trivialized stuff like Hitler (or Downfall, which is a very serious film, for that matter). The people who have been desensitized and emboldened by it are a problem that ironic mixed messages aren’t going to help. As much cultural sensitivity as people have learned this past couple of years, and it’s been non-negligible, there’s room for much more, especially now. The only way perspectives changed was from people speaking out about how things are from inside their skin.
Being upset is one thing. In this case, being upset for an entire group of people "Show me any XX" and accusing someone of "Jewsplaining" for the small responses you received is a bit much.
I understand emotions are high due to what happened in the capital. All of us are. But it's important to take a step back, a deep breath and address each situation with a reasonable response. You let everything rile you up as if you're dealing with a literal fascist every time something skews towards bad taste and you're gonna be in a bad mood and a have some real high blood pressure.
Again, just to reiterate, I think you calling it out was good and making your feelings known. I'm just cautioning you to pace yourself is all. Sometimes when we let these things get us riled up we end up going into attack / defend mode and lose the important ability to have a real discussion and progress.
I know, some people you can't reason with.. but I'd like to think the vast majority of people on this site are capable of discussion and rational thought and not out to purposely offend others.
Sorry but I have to say, you are engaging in some major assumptions about my state of mind. Does any of that sound massively angry or melting down?
More importantly, am I telling anyone what to do? Nope, just voicing my perspective.
Basic communication when dealing with people in text is to query if your take on the other person’s tone is accurate or not first, before handing out advice on what they should do. No need to be concerned about my blood pressure, in any case.
I don’t say what I say to put anyone down. I just think this week is a really good time to move past irony and snark and the burn it all down mentality and maybe lay some old internet junk to rest....or at the very least, think about it. So that’s why I say what I say. I really think there are new ways to communicate out there to be found.
