Ghostbusters fans are eating good in 2024. With the release of the new Ghostbusters Frozen Empire film in March of 2024 and now IllFonic has announced their future roadmap plans for the asymmetrical online multiple game Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. Through a press release from IllFonic, the studio confirmed that over the course of the next year the game will receive 4 major content updates.
The first update will be themed around the new Film Ghostbusters Frozen Empire and will include cosmetic updates to the iconic proton pack as seen in the film. A frozen theme will also engulf the famous fire house location in the game that serves as a Hub for players ready to bust ghosts or do some sliming themselves. Of course this new update won’t just feature cosmetics, but balance patches & fixes as well, but perhaps the biggest news is that the big bad ghost Garraka is going to be playable for those ghost mains looking to death chill those pesky Ghostbusters in game.
But wait there's more! While this is the first of the 4 updates players will receive of the course of the next 12 months, IllFonic isn’t done yet. One more ghost will phase through the plain into the game itself in Winter 2024. While Garraka has been comfirmed the other ghost and new cosmetic gear has not been released at this time. Players who saw the 2023 road map can expect the updates to roll out approximately every 3 months. Balance patches & bug fixes will also be rolled out with the content updates as well. While Illfonic has confirmed that new ghosts & cosmetic gear will be coming, we sadly got no confirmation on new maps for players to haunt, and we are only getting 2 new ghosts as opposed to 4 from last year's DLC drops. The real big disappointment is that all the gear appears to be only cosmetic.
Illfonic Chief Creative Officer had this to say with the announcement of the new content roadmap.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed has been my go-to online game this last year and I’m over the moon that support and content for the game is going to continue.
