Today, Illfonic released a small update for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, introducing an optional microtransaction feature for Ghostbuster cosmetics. For $6.99, players can bypass the grind to unlock the gear shells, which include styles from 'The Real Ghostbusters,' 'Extreme Ghostbusters,' 'Answer The Call,' and the newest 'Fanatic' set made of cardboard and plastic. This bundle also includes 5 exclusive patches, called 'support patches,' currently only available by purchasing the DLC.
However, the significant revelation lies in the fine print at the bottom of the "about this content" section on Steam:
"Any future DLC-contracted unlocked cosmetic content will be accessible by owning this pack."
This statement essentially confirms the likelihood of more content, even if limited to cosmetics, which is exciting news. Could we expect the 'Afterlife' style Pack or something related to the upcoming film 'Ghostbusters Frozen Empire'? Only time will tell. Personally, I'm willing to invest $6.99 across platforms, as increased revenue will demonstrate interest in the game and enable Illfonic to add new ghosts, maps, and gear. In the meantime, if you have an issue with paid DLC, you can always unlock the gear in-game through regular play, ensuring no advantage is gained by purchasing this DLC pack. I hope the Ghostbuster community chooses to support the DLC, anticipating the possibilities mentioned above. For more Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed news, stay tuned to shacknews.com.
